Bloomberg: Samsung's Galaxy S6 Will Have A Screen Covering 3 Sides

Posted by Brayden Cracknell Thursday, March 05, 2015

Samsung’s next big flagship phone — presumably to be the Galaxy S6 — will almost certainly be announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. According to Bloomberg, one model be all-metal and feature a screen that covers three of its sides.

According to “people with direct knowledge of the matter,” there will be two versions of Samsung’s new flagship phone. One will be draped with a screen that “covers the front and both the left and right sides;” the other will feature a standard front-facing screen. Both will have displays that measure 5.1 inches on the diagonal, according to the sources.

Displays aside, the same sources explain that both handsets will be hewn from solid lumps of metal, and feature “Samsung’s most advanced processor chips.” Which really you’d hope for in a flagship phone. Other details remain undisclosed.

If the rumours are true, it won’t be first time Samsung has flirted with the idea of a curved phone display— but it may well be the most mainstream. Still, the veracity of the claims remains to be seen. We’ll find out soon — most like at the Mobile World Congress in March. [Bloomberg]

4GX Explained

Posted by Brayden Cracknell Thursday, February 26, 2015

What is 4GX?

In the next couple of months, you’ll be hearing more and more about a new technology that Telstra is switching on around the nation at the start of 2015. 4GX is just a fancy name for the telco’s new 700MHz mobile network frequency, but that’s not the only thing you need to know about it.

Telstra is set to switch on its 700MHz frequency allocation on January 1, 2015 — that’s the date that it is officially allowed to use the spectrum, as part of the agreement it made with the Federal Government when it purchased it at the Digital Dividend auctions. There are a few sites around the country, especially around inner-city Sydney, where pre-release trial sites are set up and already functioning, but for the most part the go-live date is January 1.

We first saw the name ’4GX’ on a Telstra Exchange blog post announcing the Sony Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact (which, by the way, is a great phone).

If you're lucky enough to live in an area where Telstra is trialing the network, you will have access to all these great features like faster data speeds.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Teaser

The Samsung Galaxy S6 isn't too far away. Samsung is already producing Teasers to show off that the phone is really going to stand out. Samsung hasn't said too much about the specifications of the phone, only "20 percent higher speeds, and 35 percent less power consumption".

First Look- HTC ONE M8

Posted by LET Dubbo Friday, May 16, 2014

The HTC One M8 brings you a sleek and elegant steel phone, running Google’s Android operating system, with a massive 2.5GHz Quad-Core processor, featuring a new product to the mobile phone camera with a “4.1MP Ultrapixel camera”.

Despite the larger screen size, we still found the phone usable with one hand, unlike some devices with larger displays on the market. This, in part, is thanks to the thin bezel surrounding the screen, which means that the handset doesn't feel too unwieldy.

First look- Sony Xperia Z2

Posted by LET Dubbo Tuesday, February 04, 2014

The Sony Xperia Z2 is one of the very few phones on the market to include the waterproof feature, whilst this is a good thing the Z2 doesn’t stop amazing everyone with its features such as a 20.7 mega pixel camera, 3GB ram and running Androids latest OS “KitKat”.

The camcorder itself uses the same technology that the new 4k Sony televisions use, but made mobile and small enough to put in your pocket. Which is pretty sweet!

The only downside is that the handset itself hasn’t been released on Telstra’s pricing guide just yet, but will hopefully be available soon to everyone who wants to get their hands on this device.
